Our portfolio spans K-12 and higher education, government and civic facilities, hospitality, healthcare, multi-family residential, and large public assembly venues, including historic renovations, adaptive reuse projects, and LEED-certified buildings.
Role Overview:
The VP/Director of Engineering will play a crucial part in driving our company's growth and maintaining our competitive edge in the industry, serving as the principal advisor and key support to the firm Owner. This role requires an experienced MEP engineer. The successful candidate will come from an MEP consulting engineering background and will have personally designed and led projects comparable to those in the Moses Engineers portfolio: commercial, institutional, and historic buildings in the Gulf South, with demonstrated experience in sustainable design. This role is integral to the success of Moses Engineers' operations, requiring a dynamic leader with a strategic mindset, deep MEP technical expertise, and the ability to foster a high-performing team. The VP/Director of Engineering will support business development efforts, act in the firm's best interest independently, and ensure effective communication with the Owner, while managing people, projects, and reporting.
Required Project Experience:
Candidates must have hands-on design and leadership experience on MEP projects similar to those Moses Engineers delivers, including several of the following:
- Commercial buildings, including office towers, tenant build-outs, and mixed-use developments.
- Institutional facilities such as K-12 schools, universities, government buildings, civic centers, and healthcare facilities.
- Hospitality projects, including hotels and residences.
- Historic renovation, restoration, and adaptive reuse projects, including integrating modern MEP systems into existing and historic structures.
- Large public assembly and convention facilities.
- Sustainable and LEED-certified projects, including energy modeling, high-efficiency HVAC and lighting, and renewable energy such as photovoltaic systems.
- Resilient design for the Gulf South climate, including hurricane and flood resilience, elevated equipment, emergency and standby power, and hot, humid-climate HVAC and dehumidification.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Oversight:
? Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives. ? Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of MEP engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
Team Leadership and Development:
? Lead, mentor, and manage the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering and design staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. ? Identify skill gaps and provide training and development opportunities for team members.
Project Management:
? Supervise and coordinate project activities, ensuring resources are effectively allocated and timelines are adhered to. ? Implement project management best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness. ? Coordinate MEP design with architects, structural engineers, owners, and contractors through all phases of design and construction administration.
Process Improvement:
? Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes and practices to enhance productivity and quality. ? Utilize engineering principles and analytical techniques to drive process improvements.
Technical Expertise:
? Apply MEP technical knowledge to guide and review the design of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-voltage systems, including HVAC, power distribution, lighting, emergency power, domestic water and sanitary systems, fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems, and data, security, and communications systems. ? Serve as senior quality reviewer on drawings, specifications, and calculations before issue. ? Lead the firm's sustainable design practice, including energy modeling and LEED project support. ? Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including the International Building Codes, NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE standards, and energy codes, as well as local and state authority requirements.

Industry Engagement:
? Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in MEP and sustainable building design. ? Represent the firm at industry events and conferences, enhancing the company's reputation and network.
