Analytics Full Job Description Position Description:
The Academic Remediation Specialist is a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) who supports Vocational Nursing students in achieving academic and clinical competency. This role provides targeted tutoring, skills instruction, and simulation lab support to assist students in mastering course content, clinical skills, and critical thinking. The Academic Remediation Specialist ensures all remediation efforts align with the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) requirements and Summit. On site position. Regular Reliable Attendance. Teaching as needed.
Essential Functions:
Provide individualized and group tutoring sessions for nursing students to strengthen understanding of lecture content and address areas of difficulty. Collaborate with nursing faculty to align tutoring materials with course objectives and BVNPT-approved curriculum. Develop and implement study strategies and tools tailored to diverse learning styles and academic needs. Facilitate skills lab remediation sessions, offering guidance and practice opportunities to build clinical competencies. Provide training and support for instructors on simulation-based teaching methods, ensuring alignment with BVNPT standards and program objectives. Conduct structured simulation scenarios to reinforce critical thinking, clinical judgment, and technical skills in a safe, controlled environment. Maintain simulation equipment inventory and ensure software is updated and functioning properly, including troubleshooting as needed. Serve as the lead for simulation software management, maintaining vendor and IT communication to ensure functionality, compliance, and continuous improvement of simulation resource Assess student performance during remediation sessions and provide constructive feedback for improvement. Monitor student progress and identify recurring academic or clinical challenges requiring additional support. Maintain detailed records of remediation activities, student attendance, and progress to ensure compliance with BVNPT and institutional standards. Collaborate with faculty to track student outcomes on LMS/SIS and develop individualized remediation plans as needed. Serve as a liaison between students and faculty to ensure seamless communication and alignment of remediation efforts with course objectives. Participate in departmental meetings, workshops, and professional development activities to remain current with best practices in simulation, nursing education and remediation. Assist in developing and updating remediation policies, procedures, and resources to meet evolving BVNPT and institutional requirements. Gather, interpret, and communicate ATI assessment results to guide remediation planning, strengthen NCLEX preparation, and support continuous program improvement. Facilitate and oversee Term 4 exit procedures, assisting students with forms, Financial Aid exit, graduation clearance, Livescan, and NCLEX contract to ensure a seamless transition to licensure eligibility. Oversee and document NCLEX testing and licensure payment activities, ensuring accurate tracking, compliance with institutional policies, and timely student submissions. Organize and coordinate student CPR class & other recertifications as necessary. Create and maintain student files as per BVNPT compliance. Provide substitute instructor coverage as needed by teaching theory or clinical. Take an active role in advisory board meetings, providing program updates, collecting feedback, and ensuring alignment with BVNPT and industry standards. Licensure/Education/ Work Experience Requirements:
RN License active in CA; Baccalaureate degree or valid teaching credential or a minimum of one year of fulltime teaching experience in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing or psychiatric technician within the last five years or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and have a minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse within the last five years Demonstrated proficiency with ATI software, curriculum alignment, and analytics to track student outcomes, identify risk factors, and support BVNPT compliance. BLS certification required; additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required. Previous experience in nursing education, tutoring, or clinical instruction preferred. Strong knowledge of BVNPT standards and nursing curricula. Proficiency with simulation equipment and clinical skills training tools. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and collaborate with faculty and staff.
Pay:
$50.00 per hour
