Seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a leading national provider of federal defense drones, security drones, and public safety drones. This is a hands-on, onsite role focused on PCB design and power electronics for drone systems and ground stations. The engineer owns the full design lifecycle: schematic capture, layout, DFM, test, and production. The position is 100% onsite in Sanford, FL and our client is looking to onboard on a Direct Hire as soon as possible.
Responsibilities:
Develop high-power and control electronics for high-performance multi-rotor drone systems from initial concept through production
All aspects of PCB Design (schematic capture, layout, manufacturing, test)
All aspects of electronics documentation (design, manufacturing, test)
Electronics failure analysis and mitigation
Interface with technicians to provide electronic assembly and test assistance
Contribute to product roadmap (new features and / or new products)
Interface with contract manufacturers to facilitate the timely manufacturing of quality electronic subassemblies Required Skills
Must be US Citizen due to gov't requirement
Bachelor-s degree in Electrical Engineering (or comparable)
7-10 years of PCB design software experience; preferred tools are Altium Designer, but familiarity with any PCB design software is acceptable
Complex board design, RF systems, or power design
Substantial, independent, PCB design experience
Any combination of test, analog, RF/461, high-speed design experience
Strong Preferences:
High-speed design experience is a highly desired (almost a non-negotiable): USB, Ethernet, DDR memory, microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, or similar
Full lifecycle experience from concept through production; concept through prototype is the higher priority if a candidate doesn't cover the full range
RF/EMI experience, ideally
MIL-STD-461
Background in defense, aerospace, UAS, or robotics; domain is flexible if board complexity is there
Power electronics design experience is valued but not a substitute for PCB design depth
