Job Description

Description Permanent position for an FPGA Hardware Engineer developing software defined radio subsystems for avionics test equipment serving commercial and military aviation. Translate system requirements into FPGA architectures for pulsed interrogation and reply systems. Develop and verify VHDL designs through simulation, synthesis, and timing analysis. Implement I/Q modulation and demodulation and supporting digital signal processing functions in programmable logic. Support high-speed digital hardware design, analysis, and board bring-up. Perform system-level integration, debugging, and firmware/software integration. Verify hardware and firmware performance against requirements via simulation, stress testing, and lab measurement. Develop test plans and operational requirements. Generate and maintain system documentation. Requirements BS Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. Minimum 5 years of VHDL development for high-speed digital and communication systems. Working knowledge of digital modulation and demodulation techniques including I/Q, BPSK, and DPSK, with the ability to implement them in VHDL. Fundamental radio communication knowledge covering transmit/receive architecture, mixing, filtering, and signal level accuracy. Experience with FPGA toolchains including behavioral simulation, synthesis, timing closure, and testbench-based verification. Hardware debug and characterization using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, digital analyzers, on-chip embedded logic analyzer tools, and EVM measurement. Familiarity with error detection and correction schemes such as EDAC, CRC, BCH, and Walsh coding a plus.
