full-time About the Company MedRock Pharmacy is a fast-growing, tech-forward pharmacy specializing in dermatology and personalized medicine. Alongside pharmacy operations, our engineering team is building Med-Dots

  • a modern pharmacy management platform that integrates directly with hardware at every step: precision scales, barcode scanners, label printers, and custom devices we design ourselves.

We value innovation, hands-on building, and a commitment to high-impact engineering. Job Description We are seeking a full-time Hardware Engineer I to design and build custom hardware for the Med-Dots platform. Where off-the-shelf devices don't exist or don't fit the pharmacy workflow, you'll create them

  • from concept and prototype through firmware, enclosure, and integration with our software. This is an early-career role ideal for a hands-on builder who wants their devices used in production every day: microcontrollers, sensors, serial protocols, 3D printing, and the code that ties hardware into a real product. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, prototype, and build custom hardware devices for the Med-Dots platform
  • sensor/microcontroller-based devices (Arduino/ESP32/Raspberry Pi class), control interfaces, station fixtures, and purpose-built automation tools
  • Write the firmware and integration code that connects your devices to our platform (serial/USB/network protocols, device APIs)
  • Iterate from breadboard to production: schematics, enclosures (3D printing/CAD), small-run assembly, and documentation
  • Work with the software team to define device behavior, data contracts, and integration points (scan events, weight readings, print jobs, station workflows)
  • Evaluate and integrate commercial hardware (scales, scanners, printers) where it fits
  • and build custom where it doesn't
  • Test device reliability and failure modes; build configuration profiles and troubleshooting guides
  • Support the deployed device fleet: drivers, firmware updates, and connectivity troubleshooting as needed Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Demonstrated builder
  • personal or academic projects with microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi), basic electronics, soldering, and ideally 3D printing/CAD
  • Programming ability for firmware and integration (C/C++, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript)
  • Understanding of serial communication (RS-232/USB/UART) and how devices talk to host software
  • Methodical troubleshooting instincts
  • able to isolate whether a fault is circuit, firmware, driver, or software
  • Experience with commercial peripherals (scales, scanners, label printers) is a plus
  • Strong communication and documentation habits; able to work on-site Benefits
  • Medical, Dental, Vision and auxiliary benefits
  • Paid Time Off
