Production Control Manager | Beamline/Fabricator Programmer | Plate Machine Programmer McWhirter Steel is hiring experienced production control and CNC programming professionals to help organize, schedule, and support production throughout our structural steel fabrication facility. These positions require strong attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to keep production moving accurately and efficiently. What All Roles Have in Common Support safe and efficient shop operations Maintain accurate production information Coordinate closely with shop leadership, project management, detailing, purchasing, and quality control Identify problems before they delay production Maintain a high standard for organization, accuracy, and accountability Follow and improve company procedures Help ensure barcode and production software is used properly Support daily and weekly production goals Production Control Manager Responsibilities Create and manage cut lists for shop production Maintain accurate production tracking Develop and maintain production schedules and lookaheads Confirm production statuses are updated correctly Manage and prioritize the work of CNC programmers Ensure programmers are using company software properly and efficiently Ensure barcode software and scanning procedures are being followed Coordinate upcoming production needs with shop foremen and management Identify missing drawings, material shortages, and other production constraints Support improvements to production flow, tracking, and reporting Hold production control staff accountable for accuracy and completion of work Beamline/Fabricator Programmer Responsibilities Program the full Voortman beamline Program the Voortman Fabricator automated fitting and welding machine Review drawings, CNC files, material information, and production requirements before releasing work Prioritize programming based on the production schedule Coordinate with operators and shop leadership to keep equipment supplied with work Help ensure barcode software is used properly Troubleshoot programming and equipment-related issues Schedule service technicians and repairs when needed Help ensure equipment is being operated and maintained properly Support the Production Control Manager with scheduling, tracking, and production priorities Plate Machine Programmer Responsibilities Nest and program the Voortman V310 plate-processing machine Nest and program the HK Laser Review drawings, part files, plate grades, thicknesses, and quantities before releasing work Create efficient nests that minimize scrap and maximize plate utilization Maintain accurate plate inventory Coordinate plate requirements with purchasing and production Prioritize programming based on the production schedule Troubleshoot programming and equipment-related issues Schedule service technicians and repairs when needed Help ensure equipment is being operated and maintained properly Support the Production Control Manager with scheduling, tracking, and production priorities What We're Looking For Structural steel fabrication or CNC programming experience Ability to read structural steel shop drawings Strong computer and organizational skills High attention to detail Ability to manage changing production priorities Strong communication and problem-solving skills Experience with Tekla PowerFab, Voortman software, SigmaNEST, or similar systems is preferred Leadership and production scheduling experience is preferred for the Production Control Manager position Why McWhirter Steel?
