Job Title:
Mechanical Technician Job Description This role involves assembling, maintaining, and supporting mechanical equipment and automated systems by interpreting mechanical assembly drawings and working hands-on with a wide range of tools. You will perform precise mechanical assembly tasks, take accurate measurements, and ensure all work meets high quality and safety standards. The position requires a solid mechanical background, the ability to work with 3D CAD assembly models, and comfort working in various physical positions and environments. Responsibilities Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings to understand component layouts, tolerances, and assembly requirements. Navigate and utilize 3D CAD assembly models to support mechanical assembly and troubleshooting activities. Use common software suites, including MS Office, to document work, track tasks, and communicate findings. Perform mechanical assembly tasks such as cutting, fastening, tapping, drilling, transferring, shimming, tensioning, and torquing components. Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including hand and press drills, taps, wrenches, punches, and saws, to complete assembly and maintenance work. Conduct precise part and location measurements using tapes, scales, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to verify accuracy and alignment. Support mechanical automation assembly, industrial machine support, or mechanical machine maintenance as needed. Troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify root causes to restore equipment to proper operation. Apply strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality in all aspects of assembly and maintenance work. Follow safety procedures and best practices while lifting up to 50 lbs, working on ladders, or performing tasks at floor level. Collaborate with team members and other departments to complete projects efficiently and resolve technical issues. Travel occasionally (approximately 5-10%) to support installations, maintenance, or troubleshooting at other locations as required. Essential Skills Ability to read and understand mechanical assembly drawings. Ability to navigate 3D CAD assembly models. Proficiency with common software suites such as MS Office. Solid mechanical background using a variety of hand and power tools, including hand and press drills, taps, wrenches, punches, and saws. Ability to perform assembly tasks such as cutting, fastening, tapping, drilling, transferring, shimming, tensioning, and torquing. Ability to accurately perform precise measurements using tapes, scales, calipers, micrometers, and similar tools. Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to quality. Experience with mechanical automation assembly, industrial machine support, or mechanical machine maintenance. Ability to safely lift 50 lbs or more and work on ladders or on the floor as required. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Pneumatic experience is a plus. Experience working with pneumatics in mechanical systems is beneficial. Familiarity with CAD software beyond viewing 3D assembly models is advantageous. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills. Comfort working in a structured, safety-focused environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a climate-controlled environment designed to keep you comfortable and focused throughout your shift. The schedule typically follows either Monday-Friday 8-hour shifts or Monday-Thursday 10-hour shifts, providing some flexibility in how your workweek is structured. You will use a variety of mechanical tools and precision measuring instruments, and you will occasionally travel (approximately 5-10%) to support work at other locations. The role requires wearing composite toe shoes (not steel toes) and adhering to all safety and facility guidelines while working on ladders, at floor level, and around industrial machinery. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Malvern, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
