This hands-on position will require an individual with strong technical and project management skills. Considerations during the design process should include commercialization of proven designs and innovation for new designs while maintaining strategic cost initiatives. This position will work closely with resources inside and outside the organization to complete key projects / programs.

Principle ResponsibilitiesUtilize sound engineering practices to create innovative equipment designs that precisely align with customer requirements, industry standards, and design codes.

Evaluation of existing designs identifying deficiencies in mechanical processes and developing improvementsDesigning and developing prototypesAnalyzing and testing prototypes at each revision of a designComputer-Aided Design (CAD) of components and assemblies using CREO 3DDeveloping, initiating and managing all phases of projectsPreparing documentation of critical analysis and providing suggestions for correcting errorsCollaborating with Project Managers for proper allocation and tracking of resourcesReviews lab and field test failures, correct designs where appropriate and provide guidance / recommendations to the manufacturer for product improvement.

Perform calculations as required to validate designs.

Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsStrong verbal and written communications skills.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Proven history of coordinating and managing projects.

Ability to multi-task.

Ability to meet attendance standards. All full-time employees are required to work a 40-hr week. At times it may be necessary to work additional hours in order to get the required tasks accomplished to meet deadlines. Creativity, initiative, and problem-solving skills are a must.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience is required.5+ years of design engineering experience preferably with air compressors or power tools.

Experience with gas / electric motor driven products.

Project management and organization skills utilizing Microsoft Office products.

Experience in new product development process (Stage Gate or Milestones).Experience in or knowledge of
UL 1450 / CSA C22.2
complianceKnowledge of ASME pressure vessels would be a plusMechanical intuition with strong "hands on" experience.

Experience designing plastic, die casting, and metalworking components.

Experience with manufacturing processes and executing new designs into a manufacturing environment.

Experience in product improvement and/or cost reduction projects.

Knowledge of and ability to design and test products which meet compliance standards.

Failure analysis and test data evaluation.

Packaging development and testing.

Development of on-product and in-manual safety and instructional messages. The posted salary range for this position is $85,000 to $100,000 annually.
