Position Summary We're looking for a contract instructor to deliver our Additive Manufacturing course a 40-hour hands-on course teaching students to design, print, and quality-check functional UAS components using Autodesk Fusion 360 and FDM 3D printing. This is a trial engagement for a cohort, with the potential to become a recurring role as we scale course offerings. What You'll Teach Fusion 360 parametric CAD fundamentals through progressive, hands-on design exercises Material selection (PLA, PETG, ASA, TPU) and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) principles Reverse engineering real UAS hardware to accurate dimensions using calipers and measurement tools Slicing, printer operation, calibration, and preventive maintenance on FDM printers Graded structural component builds and a student-directed capstone project Quality inspection, basic load testing, and unit-level sustainment planning Required Qualifications Demonstrated original design portfolio - you must be able to show parts you personally designed (not downloaded, remixed, or printed from someone else's file) that solved a real functional or structural problem. Decorative prints or "I printed a lot of stuff" does not meet this bar. Hands-on, practical experience with FDM 3D printing - daily working knowledge, not a hobbyist background Working proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360 or a comparable parametric CAD platform, sufficient to design and troubleshoot in real time in front of students Ability to teach adult learners in a lecture-plus-lab format and manage a hands-on classroom U.S. person (citizen or permanent resident) - required for all Forge & Flight engagements Ability to pass a standard background check Preferred Qualifications Military background, especially aviation maintenance (15-series) or electronics (94-series) MOS, or UAS/drone maintenance experience Prior formal instructional experience (military schoolhouse, technical training, or similar) Familiarity with UAS airframes, avionics, or field-expedient repair/fabrication Experience with Bambu Studio or comparable slicing software
Pay:
$3,000.00 - $4,500.00 per week Application Question(s): Are you available to teach in-person, 0800-1700, five consecutive days, in Carthage, NC?
