Machine Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Machine Design Engineer to lead the design and development of custom automation and special-purpose machinery. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong mechanical design experience, advanced SolidWorks skills, and the ability to manage projects from concept through manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Design custom automation and capital equipment using SolidWorks. Create 3D models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation. Perform FEA/simulation analysis to validate and optimize designs. Collaborate with controls engineers, manufacturing, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle. Support machine build, debugging, commissioning, and customer design reviews. Assist with customer meetings, concept development, and sales quoting. Drive continuous improvement and maintain engineering standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. 3-10 years of experience designing custom automation or special-purpose machinery. Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks, including 3D modeling and assemblies. Experience with
FEA, GD&T, BOM
management, and vendor coordination. Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems, servo motion, and manufacturing processes. Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
Preferred Experience:
Robotics, material handling, pick-and-place, or assembly automation. CNC machinery, fabrication equipment, or window and door manufacturing. Machine safety standards (ISO/ANSI) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

Pay:
$90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
