Primary Function:
Long Wave, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, production, and sustainment of aerospace and defense systems. This position will work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program teams to develop and improve manufacturing processes, resolve production issues, and ensure products are manufactured efficiently, consistently, and in accordance with technical and customer requirements.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes, methods, and production plans. Review engineering drawings, specifications, and designs for manufacturability and producibility. Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, assembly instructions, and process plans. Support the transition of new designs and products from Engineering into production. Identify and resolve manufacturing, quality, cost, and production issues through root-cause analysis and corrective action. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Program Management to achieve cost, quality, and schedule objectives. Support the development and implementation of tooling, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing aids. Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and increase quality through Lean and continuous improvement methods. Support nonconformance investigations, engineering changes, and production readiness activities. Provide technical support and guidance to production personnel and assist with supplier manufacturing issues as required.
Work Conditions:
Employee will be working within an office environment. Employee may be expected to travel on occasion to locations where specific PPE or attire is necessary.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field. Experience developing manufacturing processes, work instructions, or production documentation. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Experience with root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques. Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required .
Preferred Requirements:
Experience in aerospace, defense, aviation, or other highly regulated industry. 5+ years of manufacturing or production engineering experience. Experience with DoD programs, military platforms, or government contracting. Experience with CAD, ERP, PLM, MES, or other engineering/manufacturing systems. Experience developing tooling, fixtures, jigs, or other manufacturing aids. Familiarity with
AS9100, ISO
9001, configuration management, and quality systems. Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or transition from engineering development to production.
