Job Description
Required Education:
Associate's degree in Mechatronics or a relevant field with 0 years of experience
High School Diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience in electronic, mechanical, or software troubleshooting
Required Skills and Experience:
Experience supporting testing of moderately complex instruments.
Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
Experience using mechanical tools such as torque drivers, gauges, and bits.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong mechanical, electrical, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Ability to analyze test results and data to determine pass/fail outcomes
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify solutions
Ability to read drawings, interpret dimensions and requirements, and perform measurements
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Basic PC and Windows experience
Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, analyzing charts, following diagrams, and performing basic arithmetic
Ability to independently plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot, and problem-solve
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to mentor, coach, and train other associates
Ability to manage time across multiple production orders and processes
Ability to effectively manage frequent assignment changes
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Understanding of Quality procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Strong commitment to Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing principles
Preferred Experience:
Experience in electronic, mechanical, or software troubleshooting is strongly preferred
Experience with medical devices, regulated manufacturing, assembly, or instrument testing environments is preferred
Responsibilities:
Perform production assembly operations, system analysis, testing, and performance optimization
Build, integrate, and understand complete assembly processes and requirements for instruments
Perform functional and release testing on at least one moderately complex instrument
Analyze test results and data to determine pass/fail outcomes and provide solutions when failures occur
Optimize instrument system performance, including precision of movement and/or light systems, using test data
Perform basic electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting on non-functioning test equipment
Identify defects and recommend design and process improvements
Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standards
Train and mentor associates on mechanical and testing activities
Identify and escalate issues related to instrument testing operations
Provide subject matter expertise regarding instrument functional performance
Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing as needed
Perform material handling functions for instrument raw materials and sub-assemblies
Complete production activities in compliance with regulatory requirements and BD Safety and Quality standards
Follow established procedures in accordance with GMP
Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives, including Blitzes, shift-start meetings, Kaizen Action Sheets, Safety activities, and other CI projects
Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment through required housekeeping activities
Follow all BD housekeeping and safety policies and procedures
Work overtime as required to meet business needs
Perform other duties as assigned
