Manufacturing Technician - Boss Process

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for setting up and operating pipe and tube bending equipment to manufacture components that meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to safely operate production equipment in a manufacturing environment. The Pipe Bender works closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.
Major Duties:
  • Set up and operate manual, semi-automated, and CNC pipe bending machines to produce parts according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering drawings, and bend layouts.
  • Measure, mark, and prepare pipe or tubing materials for bending operations.
  • Verify dimensions, bend angles, radii, and other critical specifications using measuring instruments and gauges.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to ensure product quality requirements are met.
  • Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy and product consistency.
  • Monitor equipment operation and identify potential issues that could affect product quality or production efficiency.
  • Maintain production records, inspection documentation, and work order information as required.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment and tooling issues and communicate larger issues to maintenance or supervision.
  • Safely handle raw materials, finished products, and tooling using appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Assist with tooling changes, machine setup, and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, quality personnel, and team members to resolve production challenges and improve processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, and operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Previous manufacturing experience preferred. Experience operating pipe bending, tube bending, fabrication, or CNC equipment preferred. Experience reading blueprints and technical drawings preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work instructions. Understanding of measuring tools, including tape measures, calipers, angle finders, and gauges. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift materials. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently. Manual dexterity required to operate equipment, tools, and measuring instruments. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
