Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Lead Production & Assembly Technician to oversee and coordinate manufacturing and assembly operations within our facility. This role is vital in ensuring that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely while maintaining high-quality standards. As a leader on the shop floor, you will guide a team of technicians, interpret technical drawings, and utilize a variety of precision measuring instruments and tools to deliver exceptional results. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement initiatives, foster teamwork, and uphold safety protocols to meet production goals. Responsibilities Lead and supervise a team of production and assembly technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient workflow. Interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and manufacturing documents to facilitate accurate assembly and fabrication processes. Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to verify component dimensions and ensure quality standards are met. Operate manual and power tools—including pneumatic tools, welding equipment, soldering stations, and specialized industrial tools—to assemble mechanical components accurately. Read and interpret shop math, technical drawings, schematics, and fabrication instructions to execute tasks precisely. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols and safety procedures during all operations. Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments; troubleshoot issues; perform minor repairs or adjustments as needed. Support warehouse activities including material handling with forklift operation; ensure proper storage and inventory management of parts and tools. Collaborate with engineering or manufacturing teams to improve assembly processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity through continuous improvement initiatives. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in mechanical assembly, fabrication, machining, welding, and soldering techniques. Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and interpreting manufacturing documents. Expertise in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and other measurement tools. Skilled in operating hand tools, power tools—including pneumatic tools—and specialized industrial equipment safely and effectively. Experience with shop math necessary for measurements, calculations, and quality control assessments. Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately for fabrication or assembly tasks. Knowledge of safety standards related to PPE use; committed to maintaining a safe work environment at all times. Familiarity with warehouse operations including forklift certification; experience with inventory management is a plus. Strong leadership skills with the ability to train team members; excellent communication skills for collaboration across departments.
