Job Description
A prominent manufacturing firm located in central Kentucky is seeking an Advanced Welding Process Specialist to bolster its engineering division. Key responsibilities include supporting engineering and production teams as they introduce new products, participating in projects related to innovative manufacturing techniques and ongoing improvement efforts, and assessing the manufacturability, quality, and cost efficiency of new product designs. The role requires analyzing current manufacturing procedures to suggest enhancements for greater efficiency and cost reduction and developing innovative concepts and process strategies for new products. Responsibilities also include sourcing, setting up, and documenting welding, fabrication, and assembly equipment, and conducting cost analysis and capacity assessments for production. A significant portion of your work will involve supporting robotic welding operations by refining and optimizing control processes, enhancing fabrication and welding techniques to meet production demands, and taking part in Advanced Product Quality Planning activities for new product rollouts. You will assist in the installation, validation, and activation of new manufacturing practices, ensuring adherence to prevailing quality and safety regulations. Furthermore, you'll perform failure analysis and support corrective measures for components in prototype and production stages. Ideal candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a preference for those trained in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates should possess experience in manufacturing engineering, have knowledge of welding processes and procedure development, and familiarity with process development, APQP, or similar quality planning strategies. Experience with manufacturing equipment evaluation or implementation is advantageous, as is proficiency in CAD software like AutoCAD. Skills in tooling and fixture design, GD&T, quality management systems, and DFM principles are also beneficial. Strong analytical abilities, excellent problem-solving skills, and the capacity to work effectively in a high-paced manufacturing environment are essential, along with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. The role requires a proactive individual with high integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
