Job Description

Process Metallurgist Role - Duties and Responsibilities o Assist the Senior Metallurgical Engineer in the development or improvement of the plant processes and operational equipment, o Monitor processes for the recovery of ferrochromium and other valuable products from the processing plant and direct and coordinate economic trade-off studies for optimisation of process reagents, process consumables, etc., o Plan and schedule all major activities of the plant Research and Development department and Process Control, o Evaluate and review test results as well as historical plant performances and compile reports and recommendations to the Senior Metallurgical Engineer, o Coordinate with the plant Supervisors on the implementation of operating controls, operating procedures and plant tests, o Provide direction and control over all technical evaluation and operations in the plant, o Ensure that the Standard Operating Procedures, Safety Procedures and Security Guidelines for the plant is strictly implemented, o Implement cost reduction programs and budgeting system, o Coordinate with the Operations Manager and Senior Metallurgical Engineer on the technical design and technical improvement of the plant operations and equipment to conform to the approved process plant design criteria, o Review shift, daily, weekly and monthly plant production and maintenance reports before distribution to Senior Metallurgical Engineer and/or higher management, o Implement and maintain safety standards, rules and regulations, o Perform other technical studies relevant to improved plant operations, process optimisation and product handling, o Resolve conflicts within shift/section or with other departments in an objective manner should any problems arise, o Assess process reagents, consumables, etc. on a continuous basis to ensure that all uses are within the economic and profitable limit and that quality is of the highest standard and as per the required specifications, o Evaluate and prepare the necessary manpower requirements and make tactful recommendations without prejudice with regards to the movement or promotion of personnel under his/her responsibility, if applicable, o Provide training to his/her subordinates, especially the control room operators and shift personnel and o Perform other related functions as may be assigned by the Senior Metallurgical Engineer for the attainment of the Company's goals or visions. Skills and Qualifications o
Education:
Graduate of B.Sc. Chemical Engineering or B.Sc. Metallurgical Engineering, o
Experience:
At least 4 - 6 year's relevant plant and first level supervisory experience in a similar processing plant (minerals processing & smelting operations), R&D work, technical evaluation & plant optimisation studies, etc., o Good leadership skills, o Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, o Communicates well with superiors, peers and subordinates, operations and maintenance personnel (automation/instrumentation, electrical and mechanical), etc.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
