Type:
full-time Individual will work primarily on first shift with 3rd shift overlap as needed. Individual must work closely and effectively with engineering, sales, and operations to achieve Waukesha Foundry's overall objective of on-time quality parts manufactured safely and profitably.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The primary Responsibilities include:
- Specify material and heat treatment procedure for quotation as well as for new orders.
- Prepare change material for new alloys for costing and melting purposes.
- Help in raw material specifications and melting procedures.
- Assist melting supervisors with questions regarding melt analysis and cross application of alloys.
- Check daily chemistries of heats poured the night before to make sure they meet customer requirements.
- Develop new or improved alloys to meet customer needs and satisfy regulatory requirements.
- Daily process order to specify proper alloy and heat treatment.
- Analyze parts returned for poor performance-life, corrosion, machinability, weldability, etc.
- Advise on current and potential customers regarding alloys produced by Waukesha Foundry, particularly anti-galling alloys (Ni-base and Cu-base).
Answer questions relating to strength, corrosion resistance, machinability, weldability, and sometimes pricing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in Metallurgy, Engineering, or a related field
- 3-5 years experience preferred
- Proficient with CAD/CAM software and basic understanding of GD&T is a plus
- Good math skills required
- Interest and willingness to learn
- Positive outlook and a wide comfort zone a must
