Job Description

Mechanical Engineer — Heavy Equipment / Grinder Systems Position Summary The Mechanical Engineer designs, develops, and supports RagnarTech's 9400/9700 series grinders and related mobile machinery. This role owns structural design, rotor systems, feed mechanisms, powertrain integration, and manufacturability improvements. Works cross‑functionally with Production, Hydraulics, Electrical Controls, and Supply Chain. Key Responsibilities Design structural weldments, frames, conveyors, rotor assemblies, and guarding systems Perform engineering calculations: stress, fatigue, vibration, torque, and power transmission Develop 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks or Inventor Engineer manufacturable solutions that reduce cost, improve reliability, and simplify assembly Support prototype builds and validate designs through testing and field trials Collaborate with Hydraulics and Controls Engineers to integrate systems Create and maintain BOMs, ECOs, and revision‑controlled documentation Analyze field failures and implement corrective actions Work with suppliers on component selection, manufacturability, and quality improvements Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience 3-7 years experience designing heavy equipment (forestry, recycling, construction, or mobile machinery) Strong understanding of weldment design, steel structures, and rotating machinery Experience with powertrain integration (diesel engines, PTOs, drives, couplings) Proficiency with CAD modeling and GD&T Knowledge of manufacturing processes: welding, machining, fabrication, assembly Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Experience with mobile machinery, forestry equipment, or industrial grinders Exposure to hydraulic systems or electrical controls Basic understanding of GD&T Familiarity with ERP systems (Epicor preferred) Ability to assist with testing, measurement, and data acquisition
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
