What You Will Do Join the Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization and contribute mechanical engineering expertise to mission-critical defense systems across radar, missile, and command-and-control platforms. In this role, you will participate across the entire product lifecycle—from initial concept design and structural/thermal analysis to rapid prototyping, design verification testing, and factory support. Working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment alongside systems, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, you will solve complex technical challenges to deliver robust, high-reliability mechanical solutions. Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer-duration travel assignments are available but optional.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, model, and document mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and major end items in accordance with rigorous defense system requirements. Generate and maintain parametric 3D CAD models, complex assembly hierarchies, and detailed 2D engineering drawings. Validate design fit, form, and functionality through rapid prototyping, physical testing, and engineering simulations. Support factory operations, integration facilities, and external suppliers with product manufacturing, assembly, and integration. Participate actively in design peer reviews, resolve technical action items, and conduct trade studies to inform engineering decisions. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to analyze and resolve mechanical hardware issues.

Onsite:
Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. More information about Security Clearances can be found on the US Department of State government website here: https://www.state.gov/m/ds/cleara nces/c10978.htm As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote. The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.​ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance​ Qualifications You Must Have Masters degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. Degree must be obtained by start date. Experience utilizing parametric 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks, PTC Creo, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, or Siemens NX) to generate 3D solid models, mechanical assemblies, and detailed 2D engineering drawings. Experience in mechanical design applied through coursework, academic research, engineering competition teams (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja, Robotics), or hands-on projects. Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects. Qualifications We Prefer Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from an ABET-accredited institution. Knowledge or application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles per
ASME/ANSI Y14.5.
Hands-on experience in rapid prototyping and mechanical fabrication, including additive manufacturing (3D printing via FDM, SLA, or SLS) or machine shop equipment (mills, lathes, drill presses, or CNC equipment). Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude applied to structural, thermal, or multi-disciplinary hardware challenges. This position is offered by the company.
