THE POSITION

Sr.

Staff Test Engineer, Continental Tire The Americas, LLC, Uvalde, TX:

This role involves developing test strategies and implement necessary frameworks (e.g., software, scripts, dashboards, etc.) to ensure robust validation of the product. Collaborating effectively with multiple engineering teams to determine requirements, and test methods to ensure on-time achievement of project objectives for Passenger Vehicles/Trailers and Commercial vehicle Testing. Analyzing measurement data from test vehicles using statistical analysis techniques for performance evaluation, and drive systems and ensure data quality and reliability. Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues found in test systems.

Creating and managing test documentation:

test reports, statistics, key performance indicators following Continental's test procedures (POMS). Preparing, communicating, and discussing the test results with the project team and other local and global stakeholders. Ensuring that legal requirements, automotive standards, internal quality requirements, and company policies are met per POMS. Creating, planning, managing, and supporting Vehicle Test development as well as calibration process and ensure equipment meets calibration requirements, scheduling calibration checks. Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day per month. Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in tire or automotive industry. Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in all of the following: Software testing or product development;
  • Performing comparative tests utilizing statistical tools (such as Excel, Python, Tableau, MatLab or Minitab) to aid in the process of product development;
  • Designing and executing tests to identify complex issues such as root cause analysis of inconclusive results and mitigation of environmental variable affecting outcomes;
  • Data acquisition systems and testing equipment experience including DAQ, Vbox, Digitalker or similar systems designed to record test data samples;
  • Project management on projects involving process improvement such as cost reduction and improved efficiency; and
  • Excel specifically Pivot Tables, Macros, graphs, and statistical functions including STDV, AVG, VAR, and CORREL. Of the required experience, must have 1 years of experience in: Analysis of data performance; and

Vehicle dynamics understanding the interaction between tire, suspension and road. International travel required up to 10%; Domestic travel required up to 10%.
