AboveAir Technologies is a market leader in providing highly configured HVAC solutions that span the data center market (on-prem, colocation, and hyperscale). Position Summary The Engineering Technician supports Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations by creating and maintaining accurate engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and related product documentation. This position is responsible for ensuring that drawings and BOMs accurately reflect current product configurations and manufacturing requirements. The Engineering Technician works closely with engineers, manufacturing personnel, purchasing, quality, and other functional teams to implement engineering changes, resolve documentation discrepancies, and maintain accurate product information within the company's CAD, ERP, and document-control systems. Key Responsibilities Engineering Drawings & Drafting Create, revise, and maintain engineering drawings using CAD software. Prepare detailed part, assembly, fabrication, and installation drawings from engineering concepts, sketches, specifications, and existing designs. Ensure drawings comply with company drafting standards, dimensioning practices, tolerancing requirements, and document-control procedures. Update drawings to reflect approved engineering and manufacturing changes. Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, manufacturability, and consistency. Maintain drawing revisions and associated engineering documentation. Bill of Materials (BOM) Management Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials within the company ERP/MRP system. Add, remove, and revise components based on approved engineering changes. Ensure BOM structures, quantities, part numbers, descriptions, units of measure, and revisions are accurate. Compare engineering drawings and BOMs to identify and correct discrepancies. Support the creation and maintenance of new part numbers and item-master information. Work with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Planning to resolve BOM-related issues. Engineering Change Control Support the Engineering Change Request/Engineering Change Order (ECR/ECO) process. Incorporate approved engineering changes into drawings, BOMs, and supporting documentation. Verify that all affected documentation is updated when changes are released. Maintain proper revision control and traceability of engineering documentation. Assist in determining the impact of proposed changes on existing products and manufacturing processes. Manufacturing & Engineering Support Respond to drawing, BOM, and product-documentation questions from Manufacturing and other departments. Investigate discrepancies between engineering documentation and actual production requirements. Work directly with engineers and production personnel to document approved corrections. Support new product introductions, product revisions, cost-reduction initiatives, and continuous-improvement projects. Assist with maintaining standard components and reducing unnecessary part-number or BOM complexity. Education & Experience Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred. 2-5 years of experience in engineering drafting, manufacturing engineering support, product documentation, or a similar technical role preferred. Experience working in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Technical Skills Proficiency with 2D and/or 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar. Working knowledge of engineering drawings, dimensioning, tolerancing, and drafting standards. Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials. Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar preferred. Familiarity with engineering change-control and document-control processes. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, fasteners, and mechanical components. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple drawing and BOM revisions simultaneously. Ability to identify inconsistencies between drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing requirements. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication skills and ability to work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Planning. Ability to work independently while following established engineering and document-control procedures. Key Performance Expectations Success in this position will be measured by: Accuracy of engineering drawings and BOMs. Timely completion of drawing and BOM changes.
