Job Summary The Drafter reports to the Director of Engineering and works closely with the entire PRZ Team to ensure successful implementation and completion of projects. The primary responsibility of the Drafter is to finalize mechanical design concepts and generate drawings in a timely and efficient manner. Finalizing a design involves great attention to detail as it relates to 2D drawing generation, as some part and assembly drawings can have up to 10+ pages of detailing required. This position requires a highly motivated, creative and energetic individual who can support in the design of special work-holding products as they relate to the metal cutting industry, create general mechanical assemblies from concept through final design and oversee their completion through manufacturing and assembly. The environment is fast paced, due to short lead times and multiple projects with parallel timelines. There is some customer interaction requiring good communication skills and a strong knowledge of machine tools and related fields. Duties Primary responsibility is to help move projects from concept to completion through 2D drawing creation and 3D modeling as required Maintain standards and checklists for models and drawings that can be used to increase efficiency and consistency within the design department Follow established procedures and methods to ensure thoroughness and accuracy Skills Associate's degree in a technical field, or similar. Possess strong mechanical background in general, understanding of basic mechanisms and principles. Hands-on ability is a plus Display strong 2D drafting capability, preferably in Solidworks. Good understanding of drafting principles and software Able to review part drawings with a strong knowledge of GD&T principles Ability to decipher component datasheets and specifications, apply to a design, and verify fit and function Communicate effectively with customers, vendors and team members Possess strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills Able to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate leadership skills Maintain a respectful relationship with all PRZ personnel Be able to collaborate with others to improve systems, processes, and meet or exceed defined goals Continuous improvement is a must Open to new ideas to increase effectiveness Make sure safe procedures are always followed Develop and maintain a clean and organized workplace
Pay:
$24.00 - $38.00 per hour
