Manufacturing Ridgeland, SC Job Summary In this role, you will be a valuable part of our engineering team, ensuring our Research & Development projects are met in a timely fashion while observing the highest standards of safety and quality. Duties and Responsibilities Perform tasks assigned by engineering management and/or senior mechatronics engineers. Develop new or improved controls and mechatronic components and systems for application in the terminal tractor product lines which include diesel, gas and BEV. Verification that controls, and mechatronic components and systems meet specified technical customer demands, product safety, and legislation requirements. Assist with analysis and approval of controls, and mechatronic component and system parts, sub-assembly and sub-component purchase drawings to ensure they meet all applicable standards. Assist with selection of design solutions, materials, and components for inclusion in controls, and mechatronic components and system under development. Develop control models and perform simulations - Simulation In the Loop, Hardware In the Loop, Rapid Prototyping for Automatic Control, Desktop simulations etc. Assist in testing and validating of designs. Develop functional diagrams to support development of controls systems and troubleshooting. Assist in current production issue resolutions. Work with Engine system integration and Engine development teams to test and validate control strategies for vehicle integration. Work with other departments and suppliers to build and procure components needed for prototype and production builds. Required Skills & Abilities Knowledge of software platforms such as Crank Storyboard, C++ or other programming languages. Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink with embedded code exposure Direct-to-Flash methodology for creating experimental flash files Knowledge of Hardware-In-Loop testing Experience with design and calibration of closed loop system controls Simulink, Python and/or other programming experience Experience with J1939 communications Experience with Vector analysis tools such as CANCapture and CANalyzer Experience with Creo + and Creo Schematic along with Windchill software platforms Willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Education & Experience Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. Master's degree in electrical engineering preferred. Minimum 3 years' work-related experience. Experience in vehicle control system development. Experience in supporting manufacturing environment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven self-starter with strong technical leadership skills Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, Ability to commit to flexible schedule. Must be able to participate in Lean principles and continuous improvement activities. Working conditions This position primarily operates in an office environment but may also require work in warehouse settings. PPE is required per company procedures and includes safety shoes, safety glasses and safety vest. Physical requirements Walking, sitting, standing, crouching, and lifting up to 50lbs.
