They set up equipment, apply magnetic fields and iron particles, interpret structural findings, and document results to ensure compliance with industry safety standards.
Responsibilities Setup and Operation:
Calibrate and operate magnetic particle inspection (MPI) equipment, utilizing wet/dry methods and circular/longitudinal magnetization.
Testing and Evaluation:
Apply magnetic fields to fabricated parts, inspect components using visible or fluorescent light, and evaluate structural integrity.
Defect Identification:
Locate and map surface or near-surface flaws, then determine the accept/reject status of components.
Documentation and Reporting:
Record inspection fidings, log nonconforming materials, and complete compliance paperwork.
Demagnetization:
Demagnetize parts after testing and verify residual magnetic field limits before final release. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One year experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, clean room operations, welding inspection, or a similar environment preferred. Experience working with stainless steel or precision-manufactured components is a plus. Experience operating inspection or testing equipment preferred. Ability to read and understand basic drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality requirements. Basic computer skills for entering inspection and production information.
Pay:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour
