Guidedwave is looking for an NDE Technician to join our 20-person team. We're a specialized R D company that builds advanced sensors, robotics, and scanning equipment used in the nuclear, defense, and energy industries. Prior experience with NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation) is preferred but not required - if you show the aptitude, we'll train you. The Role In this role, you'll learn to operate specialized ultrasonic inspection equipment and help our engineers collect and record test data. Over time, you'll get comfortable with several different types of equipment - conventional UT, Phased Array UT, Guided Wave, and Acoustic Emission, among others - and use them to perform sensor testing, support prototyping, and evaluate new technologies. Most of your time will be spent working from our office and lab here in State College (roughly 75%), with the remainder traveling to customer sites to help test equipment in the field or assist with real-world inspections. The work stays varied - you won't be doing the same task on repeat every day. This position, following sufficient training and skill development, will eventually be responsible for performing NDE inspections using techniques such as guided wave, acoustic emission, UT, and related methods on a variety of industrial assets or on laboratory test articles. Day-to-day tasks may include preparing inspection sites, setting up and calibrating equipment, collecting and interpreting data, and documenting findings in clear technical reports. The technician collaborates with engineers and project managers to support R D activities, field trials, and commercial projects, while ensuring all work complies with safety standards, quality procedures, and customer requirements. The role may involve travel to client facilities, working in industrial environments, and continuous learning to stay current with evolving NDE technologies. Whether or not you come in with NDE experience, what matters most is that you're reliable, technically capable, eager to learn, and take pride in doing careful, accurate work.

Key Responsibilities Equipment Operation:

Learn to operate ultrasonic NDE equipment, including conventional UT, PAUT, Guided Wave, and Acoustic Emission systems.

Data Collection:

Collect clear, well-documented test data in the lab to support our engineering and R D work.

Prototype Testing:

Help test and evaluate prototype systems and components as they're developed.

Field Support:

Travel occasionally to customer and partner sites (domestic and international) to help with field testing and evaluations.

Variety of Work:

Support projects across several industries, including nuclear and defense, working alongside our engineers and researchers.

Team Support:

Pitch in wherever needed - the work here is varied, not repetitive.

Qualifications Citizenship:

You must be a U.S. Citizen. Due to the nature of our work, U.S. Citizenship is strictly required.

Education & Experience:

All kinds of backgrounds are welcome. Prior NDE experience, or relevant training, certifications, or coursework (engineering, a technical trade, or similar), is preferred but not required if you show the aptitude to learn; a college degree is helpful but not necessary. Knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and degradation in industrial assets, and an understanding of one or more industrial operations and related inspection needs - including familiarity with pipelines, pressure vessels, and process equipment - is a plus.
