Leidos is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team in the Energy & Utilities sector. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of overhead and underground transmission line projects, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for utility and critical infrastructure clients. You'll guide multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, conduct QA/QC, and interface directly with customers. Responsibilities Lead end-to-end transmission line engineering and design projects for utility clients Develop and review transmission line designs, models, and construction packages Apply NESC, utility standards, and industry codes to ensure safe, reliable designs Coordinate with civil, structural, and substation teams to integrate project solutions Oversee junior engineers, provide technical mentorship, and perform QA/QC reviews Engage with clients to define scope, resolve technical issues, and present design options Support proposals, estimates, and schedules for transmission line projects Drive innovation in tools, standards, and best practices for grid modernization Ensure compliance with Leidos quality, safety, and ethical standards Contribute to a collaborative, mission-focused culture and continuous improvement Required Skills Transmission line design (69k V-500k V) PTC/PLS-CADD or similar tools National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) Structural analysis of steel/wood/ concrete poles Foundation and loading calculations Auto CAD or Micro Station Project management and scheduling Cost estimating and budgeting Grid modernization and reliability planning Client and stakeholder coordination QA/QC and design reviews
