Responsibilities and Tasks:

Design Engineering and technical coordination tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Design appropriate drawings for cost-effective substation layouts, grounding, lighting, cable plans, bill of materials, etc.
  • Review physical design drawing packages, perform electrical & mechanical calculations, and perform other engineering studies as required.
  • Have basic protection design knowledge to help review P&C schematic drawings in physical & electrical accuracy.
  • Coordinate cross functional teams including engineers, designers, field personnel, and external stakeholders.
  • Help schedule and coordinate activities of purchasing, drafting, and construction of substation equipment components.
  • Create, review, and manage project deliverables such as design packages, reports, calculations, vendor equipment drawings, and construction documentation.
  • Help facilitate client communication, project meetings, and status updates to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
  • Support field activities including site assessments and data collection as needed.
  • Provide consulting services to other groups in matters pertaining to system protective device coordination and/or automation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, engineering codes, company policies, applicable regulations, and customer standards.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve technical and operational problems effectively.
  • Promote collaboration, team cohesion, organization, and attention to detail in all project phases.
Requirements:
  • 4-7 years of substation design engineering or power delivery engineering experience for transmission, and/or distribution systems (both is a plus)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university required
PE Electrical and Computer:

Power Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with an emphasis on collaboration
  • Solid understanding of substation design principles (physical, electrical, protection & control)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and PDF software
  • Experience working with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Microstation, etc. is a plus
  • Strong focus on collaboration with team members and meticulous attention to detail
  • Although primarily office-based, the role may occasionally involve fieldwork
