As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to take designs from concept through testing and production while collaborating directly with the people who build and use our products. Your work will have a tangible impact on product quality, manufacturing efficiency, operator safety, and customer satisfaction. Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Product Engineer to join our Engineering team. This position is responsible for analyzing, testing, improving, and developing products, tooling, and machinery components using sound scientific and engineering principles. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical design skills with practical manufacturing knowledge and enjoys working directly with operators, fabrication and machining teams, vendors, and customers to turn ideas into reliable, manufacturable products. What You Need Bachelor's degree in engineering required; Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) preferred. 2+ years of product development experience preferred. Mechanical design experience - experience with metal fabrication and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) strongly preferred. Strong proficiency with CAD systems; Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) and AutoCAD preferred. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to identify root causes and develop creative, practical solutions. Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to work independently. Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on quality. Ability to communicate technical information effectively with internal departments, vendors, and customers. Preferred Experience Experience working in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of metals, including metallurgy, machining, and finishing processes. Familiarity with the flow of information from order entry through product manufacturing and shipment. Experience with CAM programming and manufacturing processes. Experience with product testing, verification, and certification. What You'll Bring A hands-on approach to engineering, design, and prototyping. A collaborative mindset and willingness to work directly with production operators and manufacturing teams. Curiosity and a desire to understand how products are made and how they can be improved. Strong problem-solving abilities and sound engineering judgment. The ability to balance customer needs, product performance, manufacturability, quality, efficiency, and safety. What You'll Do Model new product designs and create detailed drawings for customers, sales, production, and machining teams. Modify customer product requests to meet manufacturing capabilities and production requirements. Design tooling, machine components, fixtures, and pattern boards for woven and welded mesh products. Detail and dimensioning job sheet drawings for customer approval and production instructions. Perform product testing and verification, including coordinating with external laboratories for testing and certifications. Analyze test results and redesign products, tooling, fixtures, and processes as needed. Communicate testing results, design changes, and recommendations to engineering, management, and internal departments. Maintain accurate product and tooling documentation within the ERP system. Convert product and tooling designs into manufacturing data and CAM programs for EDMs, lasers, machining centers, and other equipment. Partner with the fabrication department to develop and test new products for strength, durability, and versatility. Work with the Continuous Improvement Team during new machinery installations to ensure products run efficiently. Evaluate suggestions and feedback from production operators and implement improvements that enhance efficiency, manufacturability, quality, and safety. Apply manufacturing safety principles when designing products, tooling, and machinery. Perform additional duties as assigned. Work Environment This position works in a general office environment with regular exposure to hands-on manufacturing operations . The role requires collaboration with production, fabrication, machining, and other manufacturing personnel and may involve time on the production floor.
