Application Engineer Charleroi, Pennsylvania $70,000 to $80,000 per year This company designs and manufactures industrial electrical and electronic monitoring and control equipment for oil and gas, mining, power generation, and other heavy industrial markets. The Application Engineer serves as the primary technical resource for customers and the sales team throughout the full customer lifecycle, from initial system design through installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and ongoing support. This is a field-facing engineering role that combines electrical and electronics expertise with direct customer interaction, working across engineering, sales, and plant personnel. Schedule Full-time, based in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, with approximately 10% travel to customer sites and other business locations, including occasional travel to Canada and Mexico. Compensation $70,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience. What You'll Do This role partners with the sales team to understand customer requirements and recommend the right technical solution, translating customer needs into practical, manufacturable system and product designs. This includes configuring standard products for application-specific requirements, designing customized solutions using internal and third-party technologies, and performing engineering calculations and technical analysis to support product selection. The Application Engineer serves as the primary technical point of contact for customers during the sales and implementation process, communicating product capabilities and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. This includes creating application drawings, technical documentation, specifications, and training materials, and accompanying sales professionals on customer visits, technical presentations, and calls, as well as supporting technical responses to RFIs and RFQs. Field responsibilities include supporting system design, testing, verification, installation, programming, commissioning, and startup activities, along with troubleshooting equipment and systems in the field, over the phone, and remotely. This role also provides technical and product training to customers, sales teams, and other stakeholders, and tests new and existing equipment to verify performance against engineering specifications. The Application Engineer provides engineering teams with feedback on product performance, customer requirements, field issues, and potential improvements, participates in the design and development of new products and enhancements, helps evaluate new products for field readiness, and coordinates outside engineering resources when specialized expertise is needed. This person also helps identify additional customer needs and opportunities that could lead to future products, applications, or business growth. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline 5+ years of technical field engineering, applications engineering, or similar hands-on engineering experience Experience within oil and gas, mining, power generation, heavy industrial, or similar environments Familiarity with sensor technologies, industrial monitoring systems, electronics, and network communications Working knowledge of industrial communication and control protocols, including Modbus, 4-20mA, relay logic, and similar protocols Understanding of hazardous location classifications and equipment ratings Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical projects and competing priorities Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information for non-technical audiences Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time, including occasional travel to Canada and Mexico; must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when needed for equipment installation, testing, or field support Comfortable working in industrial environments that may include power plants, underground mining operations, and oil and gas facilities Preferred Qualifications Experience with Allen-Bradley controls Experience with ladder logic Experience with HMI systems and interface design Experience with AutoCAD Experience with industrial gas detection or sensor systems Experience with system commissioning and field startup Mechanical systems experience or strong mechanical aptitude Compensation and Benefits $70,000 to $80,000 per year, based on experience 401(k) with company match Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance Paid time off To apply, submit your resume for consideration.
