Our programs follow a structured pathway from robotics foundations to advanced building, coding, and competition-oriented experiences. You don't need to be a robotics expert to join. SparkOn provides the curriculum, equipment, lesson guides, and paid instructor training — you bring energy, reliability, and a love of working with kids. What You'll Do Teach hands-on robotics classes for elementary and middle school students using structured lesson plans — always alongside a co-instructor; you'll never run a room alone Guide students through building, block-based coding, sensors, motors, and engineering challenges Coach problem-solving: help students test, troubleshoot, and improve their designs rather than giving them the answers Keep a positive, structured, inclusive, and safe classroom where students are comfortable learning from mistakes Set up robotics kits, tablets, and activity stations before class and reset equipment after each session Share student progress and classroom updates with SparkOn leadership Represent SparkOn professionally with students, parents, and school staff Single-site shifts: you'll be assigned to one location per scheduled shift — no traveling between sites mid-shift. What We're Looking For University students and early-career professionals in STEM, education, or related fields — strong candidates from any major who enjoy technology and working with children are encouraged to apply Hands-on experience with VEX or LEGO robotics, FIRST, Scratch, Python, tutoring, or maker projects is helpful but not required — we train you on our platforms, curriculum, and teaching approach Patient, energetic, and clear when explaining technical concepts to children Comfortable speaking to groups and balancing fun with classroom structure Dependable and punctual — students attend recurring programs and count on seeing the same instructors every week Requirements 18 years or older and authorized to work in the U.S. Must pass a fingerprint-based background check (Texas DPS/FBI) - SparkOn covers the cost Able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule for the full program semester Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs of equipment Reliable transportation to your assigned Cedar Park, Leander, or Northwest Austin location Why Join SparkOn $17/hour with paid training — no unpaid prep expected Real teaching, leadership, and technical-communication experience that stands out on any STEM resume Work directly with robotics hardware, coding environments, and structured curriculum Afternoon scheduling that fits around university classes Growth path for strong instructors: Senior Instructor → Lead Instructor → Competition Robotics Coach →
