Job Description

Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer - Robotics & Automation Position Summary We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer to develop and implement advanced finishing processes for highly engineered ceramic components. This role will focus on creating and optimizing robotic and CNC-based finishing operations utilizing machine vision, force sensing, and automated process control technologies. The ideal candidate will bring experience in automated finishing applications such as grinding, sanding, deburring, polishing, or material removal processes and will be comfortable leading process development from concept through production implementation.

Key Responsibilities Develop and implement robotic and CNC finishing processes for precision ceramic components. Design and optimize automated operations for deburring, surface finishing, slot finishing, edge preparation, and dimensional correction. Integrate machine vision systems and force-sensing technologies to achieve repeatable and accurate material removal. Establish process parameters and validate manufacturing methods for production environments. Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, tooling, and automation teams to improve throughput and process capability. Evaluate and implement tooling, fixtures, sensors, and automation solutions to support manufacturing objectives. Conduct process capability studies and root cause investigations. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction. Develop work instructions, process documentation, and validation plans. Lead equipment commissioning and production readiness activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field. Minimum 5 years of manufacturing process engineering experience. Experience developing automated manufacturing or finishing processes. Knowledge of robotic or CNC-based processing systems. Experience with material removal operations such as: Grinding Sanding Deburring Polishing Surface finishing Experience troubleshooting complex manufacturing processes. Strong problem-solving and data-analysis skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with industrial robotics (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, Universal Robots, or similar). Experience integrating machine vision systems. Experience utilizing force-torque sensors or adaptive control systems. Experience working with ceramic, composite, aerospace, or precision-engineered components. Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection methodologies. Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience. Experience supporting new process development and production launch activities. What Will Make Someone Successful Hands-on experience developing robotic finishing cells. Understanding of adaptive manufacturing processes using vision and force feedback. Ability to improve process capability while maintaining tight dimensional tolerances. Experience translating prototype processes into scalable production operations.
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
