This is a hands-on individual contributor role with day-to-day responsibility for operating, setting up, and improving our Panasonic and legacy FANUC robotic welding systems. The operator works independently while communicating closely with Production Control, managers, Quality, Maintenance, and other production employees. Programming in this position is performed through robot teach pendants. PLC programming or software coding experience is not required. Responsibilities Set up, operate, and monitor robotic welding cells safely and efficiently. Create, modify, and troubleshoot robot programs using teach pendants, including teaching or touching up points and adjusting paths, speeds, sequences, torch position, and weld settings. Set and adjust welding parameters to achieve the required penetration, appearance, strength, and consistency. Operate a forklift to move and relocate materials and parts in and out of the robot welding area. Complete job changeovers, load fixtures and components, verify fit-up, and confirm correct tooling and consumables. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using drawings, weld symbols, measuring tools, and established quality requirements. Identify the causes of weld defects and determine whether corrections are needed to part fit-up, fixtures, consumables, welding parameters, or the robot program. Coordinate with Production Control and managers regarding job priorities, production queues, material availability, and schedule changes. Organize and prioritize assigned work with limited day-to-day supervision while communicating problems or competing priorities promptly. Record production activity, quality results, downtime, and significant program or parameter changes. Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and replacement of welding consumables. Improve cycle times, weld quality, uptime, and overall robotic welding processes. Share knowledge and assist with cross-training other employees. Follow all safety procedures, guarding requirements, and company policies. Qualifications At least two years of relevant hands-on experience in robotic welding, welding or fabrication, CNC or machine setup, industrial equipment operation, or a similar manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of welding fundamentals and the factors that affect weld quality. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, and weld symbols. Mechanical aptitude and a practical, systematic approach to troubleshooting. Ability to work autonomously, stay organized, and adjust priorities as production needs change. Clear, professional communication with coworkers, Production Control, and managers. Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail. Ability to operate heavy equipment, including forklifts, with in-house operator certification. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical duties of a manufacturing position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Experience Operating or programming robotic welding equipment through a teach pendant. Experience with Panasonic, FANUC, or another industrial robot platform. Setting up or optimizing welding parameters and correcting weld defects. New-part programming, fixture setup, or robotic process improvement. Training or cross-training other production employees. Candidates do not need previous Panasonic or FANUC experience to be considered. Experienced welders, fabricators, CNC operators, and other manufacturing professionals with strong equipment-setup skills and an interest in learning robotic welding are encouraged to apply.

Pay and Schedule Starting Pay:

$24.00-$30.00 per hour, based on relevant welding knowledge, robotic experience, teach-pendant programming ability, troubleshooting skills, and training experience. 90-day review: This position includes a performance and compensation review after a 90-day probationary period. Any pay adjustment will be based on demonstrated capabilities, performance, and responsibilities.

Schedule:

Monday through Thursday, 10-hour days (6 am - 4:30 pm). Full-time; part-time availability may be considered.
