Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Land Survey Technician to join our dynamic surveying team. In this role, you will be instrumental in collecting, analyzing, and documenting land data to support a wide range of construction, civil engineering, and land development projects. Your expertise in survey equipment operation, data collection, and drafting will help ensure precise measurements and accurate representations of land features. Duties Operate surveying equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, 3D scanners, LiDAR, and levels to perform field surveys with precision. Conduct construction layout surveys and staking to guide project development accurately on-site. Perform topographic surveys, ALTA surveys (American Land Title Association), and boundary surveys to establish property lines and land features. Locate underground utilities using utility locating tools to prevent damage during construction activities. Collect survey data using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Carlson, Revit, and ArcGIS for detailed mapping and drafting. Analyze survey data for accuracy and prepare detailed reports, schematics, and legal descriptions for project documentation. Assist in the creation of construction schematics and coordinate with engineers and architects for seamless project execution. Support construction staking efforts by translating survey data into actionable construction plans. Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments regularly to ensure optimal performance during field operations. Engage in heavy lifting of equipment or materials when necessary to facilitate fieldwork activities. Qualifications Proven experience operating surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems (including Trimble GNSS), levels, and 3D scanners. Strong understanding of land surveying principles including trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and math fundamentals essential for accurate measurements. Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D), GIS platforms (ArcGIS), MicroStation, Carlson, Revit, and surveying data analysis tools. Knowledge of utility locating techniques and the use of schematics for construction layout surveys. Experience conducting topographic surveys, construction staking, ALTA surveys, legal descriptions, and land boundary determinations. Ability to interpret technical drawings such as schematics and construction plans accurately. Excellent field surveying skills combined with strong data collection and analysis capabilities. Physical stamina for fieldwork activities including heavy lifting and extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
