Job Description

The Survey Supervisor directs survey operations and ensures that projects meet required standards. This role involves coordination with engineers, consultants, and public agencies. Strong organization and communication are required to keep projects moving forward.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead and supervise land surveying work related to County engineering and infrastructure projects. Review survey data, mapping products, and construction documents to ensure accuracy and compliance. Coordinate surveying services for civil engineering design, mapping, and construction activities. Work with engineers, consultants, and agencies to support project planning and land development efforts. Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and project documentation. Write Requests for Proposals (RFPs), review letters, and reports concerning various projects. Oversee field survey crews and guide procedures and safety practices. Ensure survey activities follow state regulations and County engineering standards. Support right-of-way research, property boundary analysis, and mapping projects. Assist with planning efforts tied to transportation, land preservation, and public infrastructure. Perform other related duties as assigned by Director of Engineering and/or Deputy Director of Engineering. Qualifications Essential 5 years' supervisory experience in land surveying, civil engineering design, mapping, and construction specifications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of State DOT and FHWA specifications related to transportation and infrastructure projects. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite software. Preferred Possession of a Professional Land Surveyor license issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Knowledge of County policies and operational procedures. Understanding of the Green Acres Program and State Agricultural Development Committee farmland preservation regulations related to surveying services. Familiarity with the New Jersey Department of Transportation Right-of-Way Engineering Manual. Working knowledge of ArcGIS software for mapping and spatial analysis.
Hours:
Full time: 40 hours/week Salary range: $75,000 - $80,000/year Benefits include health coverage (medical, prescription, and dental), paid time off (vacation, holidays, and sick), a deferred compensation plan, and enrollment in the NJ State Pension System.
