By joining our Owenton Section Office as a Transportation Engineer Supervisor in Owen County, you'll have the opportunity to perform direct line supervision of the activities of employees of an engineering program. Plans, assigns, and supervises and reviews work on the Owenton Section office in order to meet objectives of the construction inspection and maintenance engineering projects. Performs other duties as assigned.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Performs direct line supervision of the activities of employees of an engineering program. Plans, assigns, and supervises work on the section's office staff in order to meet the objectives of the construction inspection, routine maintenance, and other engineering programs. Reviews and analyzes data to plan and design or coordinate the planning and design of transportation facilities in accordance with the department and federal policies, procedures, and standards. Interprets project plans and contract documents for property owners, local officials, contractors, material suppliers and property owners. Reviews and investigates complaints of property owners and local officials. Confers with contractors, material suppliers, consultants, local officials, departmental engineers and county maintenance and special operations crews on technical and operational problems. Makes routine and final inspection and acceptance of construction and maintenance projects. Determines ways and means for proper expenditure of funds for various transportation programs. Reviews requests for major repairs or new projects and makes recommendations and estimates. Interprets and drafts professional and technical papers and reports. Reviews planning studies and makes recommendations for alternative solutions. Makes recommendations concerning the planning or design of transportation facilities and related work. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
(AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period. Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained.
