Job Description

Provides accounting services for the County's proprietary funds.
Typical activities include:
month end close, account reconciliations, tax filings, bond financing, year-end audits and special projects. Work is primarily performed in Columbiana, with occasional assignments at other County offices. Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and review journal entries, month-end and year-end close activities. Balance daily banking deposits. Reconcile customer billing accounts. Research any discrepancies. File monthly taxes and fees. Maintain bond and debt issuance activities and calculate amortization. Track proprietary assets and calculate depreciation. Reconcile general ledger accounts. Prepare financial reports, and assist with special projects. Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervision.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university. A minimum of three (3) years' of either payroll, general ledger or purchasing experience or a combination of the 3 components. Valid driver's license. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Willingness to work nonstandard hours. Must be willing to travel as required.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Experience with Munis accounting software. Background in fund accounting and accrual accounting. Experience with financial reporting and advanced MS Excel skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to operate a variety of automated office equipment including computers, printers, calculators, facsimile machines, and telephones. Physical demands requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work.
