ABOUT THE POSITION
Kinline is hiring a staff accountant to support a portfolio of outsourced accounting clients. The person in this role will contribute to monthly close and reporting, maintain accurate accounting records, communicate directly with clients, and help improve recurring processes. A staff accountant will take ownership of close and reporting workflows and resolve complex accounting issues. The right person will be accurate, responsive, organized, and comfortable asking questions while developing sound professional judgment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and support management with variance, trend, and budget-to-actual analysis. Record and reconcile account activity, prepare journal entries, and maintain accurate month-end workpapers and supporting schedules. Complete assigned month-end close tasks on schedule and communicate progress, questions, and potential issues early. Maintain charts of accounts and help ensure transactions are classified in the appropriate accounts and periods. Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, expense management, vendor maintenance, and annual 1099 reporting. Respond to client questions professionally, research accounting issues, and work with managers to resolve or escalate them appropriately. Support accounting cleanup, reporting improvements, system implementations, and other client advisory projects. Use QuickBooks Online, Karbon, and related technology to maintain clear workflows, documentation, deadlines, and client-specific knowledge. Identify practical opportunities to make recurring work more accurate, consistent, and efficient.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. 1+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting, outsourced accounting, CAS, or other multi-client experience is preferred. Candidates with approximately three or more years of experience and demonstrated ability to own client work may be considered at the Senior Associate level. Strong foundation in accrual accounting, financial statements, month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, AP, AR, and payroll-related accounting. Experience with QuickBooks Online. Experience with Bill.com, Expensify, Gusto, Karbon, or similar platforms is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain questions and accounting matters clearly to clients and colleagues. Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, follow-through, and attention to detail. Demonstrated ownership, sound judgment, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a fast-moving client service environment. CPA or active progress toward CPA licensure is a plus but is not required. Ability to work from Kinline's Scottsdale office as part of the firm's hybrid schedule.
