Accountant 🔍 Iowa City, Iowa, United States New 📁 Accounting/Finance 📅    21 hours ago Post Date 📅    26005381 Requisition # Apply for Job Share this Job Sign Up for Job Alerts Health Care Information Systems is seeking an Accountant who will be responsible for performing various accounting and administrative support functions primarily supporting Bioengineering, while also having additional responsibilities within HCIS. This role will support Bioengineering by preparing, reviewing, and processing financial information contained and managed within University of Iowa financial systems. This role must be strongly committed to providing a high-level of service and attention to detail. This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location. Position Responsibilities Process various transactions and invoices for payment May assist with the preparation of financial reports and information for leadership Assist with monitoring of expenses Complete basic to moderately complex recurring transactional and reporting needs Complete the reconciliation of monthly transaction detail reports Assist Finance Manager with ad-hoc financial requests. Perform basic and routine analysis of financial transactions Prepare standardized reports by utilizing established processes Maintain a basic understanding of financial systems and processes within University of Iowa's financial database Perform all tasks in accordance with university, state, and federal laws and compliance standards. Maintain appropriate storage of records and documentation for accounting transactions Ensure all purchases and expenses adhere to university policies Initiate both ad-hoc and routine journal entries, change of status transactions, and purchase orders to ensure total accuracy Reconcile procurement card transactions monthly for assigned staff and secure appropriate documentation May review and approve transactions within UI Workflow Assist with budget preparations and submissions. Provide recommendations for process improvement Health Care Information Systems (HCIS): Provides and supports information and communication systems and technology that facilitate quality patient care, progressive medical education, and innovative research. HCIS services University of Iowa Health Care by providing comprehensive, high-level support for patient care delivery, internal and external communication, technology innovation, medical education, and research. Creating and maintaining a positive, productive, and rewarding environment for information technology and communication staff

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and work as a cooperative team member.
  • High level of competency using Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to deadlines. Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience using University of Iowa accounting and financial systems is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience with inventory and service management systems.
  • Prior experience presenting financial and accounting information.
