Staff Accountant
Job Description
Overview The Staff Accountant is accountable for the timely and accurate preparation and maintenance of the financial statements. This responsibility encompasses all accounts on the organization's Balance Sheets and Income Statements. Responsibilities Prepares and evaluates the monthly financial statement, related exhibits and accompanying memorandums in accordance with generally acceptable accounting principles. Accurately reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts on a timely basis as defined by the Controller. Prepares schedules used by various auditors in their determination of the accuracy of accounting records. Prepares month-end financial package including miscellaneous reports and related exhibits. May prepare various tax returns and financial surveys. May review and approve assigned invoices for accuracy and payment. May assist in budget preparation. May work as a back-up to other teammates as needed. Assists in development and maintenance of policies and procedures related to the general ledger function. May perform duties in the cash function of the organization. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required Minimum Work Experience Three (3) to five (5) years of accounting experience required Experience preparing monthly financial statements and reconciling asset and liability accounts required Experience preparing tax returns and performing various accounting functions required Experience with Lawson preferred Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Strong organizational skills Strong technical and analytical skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements Ability to reconcile asset and liability accounts accurately Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
