Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support financial reporting, close activities, and operational analysis for a manufacturing environment in Louisville, Kentucky. This role partners closely with plant leadership across multiple facilities to provide accurate reporting, strengthen accounting processes, and deliver insights that influence cost and performance. The ideal candidate brings strong general accounting knowledge, solid analytical ability, and the confidence to work across both accounting and finance responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Produce recurring financial reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, ensuring stakeholders receive timely and accurate operating results.
Lead key close activities by preparing journal entries, recording accruals, reviewing variances, and supporting both month-end and year-end reporting accuracy.
Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigate inconsistencies, and resolve outstanding items within established deadlines.
Support external audit requests by organizing schedules, providing documentation, and responding to follow-up questions from auditors.
Administer fixed asset accounting and reporting, including tracking activity and maintaining accurate records for depreciation and asset balances.
Oversee company credit card activity and employee expense reimbursements, confirming policy compliance and recording related accounting entries each month.
Build financial analyses, ad hoc reporting, and models that help operations evaluate trends, manage inventory, and better understand cost drivers.
Partner with plant management across three facilities to improve consistency in financial processes and reinforce accounting policies that support compliance and efficiency.
Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities while helping implement process enhancements tied to reporting and operational performance. Requirements
At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting with exposure to cost accounting concepts.
Strong understanding of core accounting principles, including debits and credits, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret operational and financial data and turn findings into actionable recommendations.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions, with the ability to work effectively with large data sets.
Familiarity with reporting and analysis tools such as Power BI; experience with Sage 500 or industry-specific manufacturing systems is a plus.
Ability to collaborate effectively with plant leadership and cross-functional teams in an environment where accounting support is centralized.
Relevant accounting experience is valued; a degree is helpful but not required.
