Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper Roessel Joy Danvers, MA Job Details Full-time | Contract $30 - $34 an hour 13 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Teamwork Attention to detail GAAP QuickBooks Time management Full Job Description Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper We are looking for a highly organized and motivated Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper to become part of our finance team. This position is responsible for maintaining reliable accounting records, supporting month-end and financial reporting processes, performing reconciliations, and helping ensure adherence to applicable accounting and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-focused, dependable, comfortable working with financial data, and able to manage multiple accounting priorities in a fast-paced team environment. Key Responsibilities Maintain the general ledger and accurately record financial transactions, including journal entries and account adjustments. Analyze balance sheet accounts and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare, review, and assist with financial statements in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements. Perform bank, cash, and other account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies as needed. Analyze cash activity and financial information to help ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records. Assist with annual budgets, financial forecasts, and management reporting. Help maintain compliance with internal controls, including SOX requirements, and other applicable regulatory standards. Enter and maintain accounting information using systems such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, or comparable financial software. Generate financial reports and assist with analysis of accounting data. Provide schedules, supporting documentation, and explanations during internal and external audit activities. Work collaboratively with other members of the finance team and provide guidance or mentoring to less-experienced accounting staff and interns. Use Microsoft Excel extensively to analyze and organize financial information, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas, and other data-analysis functions. Identify discrepancies, research accounting issues, and assist with process improvements when appropriate. Qualifications Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related financial position. Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and fundamental accounting principles. Experience using accounting or financial management software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, Quicken, or similar platforms. Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices. Understanding of accounting controls, regulatory requirements, and compliance procedures. Experience with SOX controls, LIHTC accounting, governmental accounting, or nonprofit accounting is a strong advantage. Familiarity with specialized accounting or legal-related areas, including securities regulations, wills, trusts, or estate matters, is a plus. Advanced or strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and financial data analysis. Ability to perform reconciliations, prepare journal entries, research account activity, and support audit requests accurately and efficiently. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a strong attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while meeting deadlines. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, or support junior accounting personnel. # RJAF123
