Job Description

Make an Impact Every Day Through Your Financial Expertise Full-Time Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fall River (CCFR) is committed to improving the quality of life for individuals and families in need by providing comprehensive social and human services throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. We're looking for an experienced Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position plays a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization while supporting programs that make a difference in our communities. What You'll Do As our Accountant, you will: Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including assets, liabilities, revenues, expenses, and other financial activities Supervise and mentor a small accounting team Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and Uniform Guidance for federal and private grants Prepare and analyze financial statements, including the Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, Statement of Cash Flows, Statement of Functional Expenses, and related footnote disclosures Maintain the general ledger through timely journal entries and account reconciliations Reconcile bank accounts, payroll, credit cards, cash disbursements, accounts receivable, and other financial accounts Manage fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules, purchases, and disposals Ensure proper accounting and reporting for donor-restricted funds Process accounts payable and ensure expenses are charged to the appropriate accounts Coordinate year-end audit preparation and work closely with external auditors Maintain strong internal financial controls and recommend process improvements Assist the CFO with special projects and other financial initiatives Collaborate with staff, auditors, funders, volunteers, and external partners Perform other duties as assigned Preferred experience includes: Preparing and submitting the Massachusetts Uniform Financial Report (UFR) Preparing and filing federal, state, and local tax forms What You Bring to the Team Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) CPA designation preferred Minimum of five years of professional accounting experience Nonprofit accounting experience preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles Experience with grant accounting and regulatory reporting requirements Proficiency with accounting software and financial analysis tools Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT is highly desirable Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fall River Demonstrated honesty, integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment What We Can Give in Return Great benefits include: Health and dental insurance coverage on Day One 403(b) retirement plan 13 paid holidays 3 weeks of paid time off Up to 12 paid sick days annually Professional, collaborative, and mission-driven work environment Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve We would be delighted to talk with you about our organization and everything we have to offer. $69,500.00 - $78,500.00 per year
