•Only 2 days onsite in Columbia, MD- rest can be remote Pay rate $50-53/hr Position Overview Our client is seeking a hands-on Interim Sr. Accountant to provide leave coverage for a key accounting leader within one of the company's operating business units. This engagement is expected to begin in October and continue through late January or early February, covering year-end close and critical accounting activities during the leave. The ideal candidate is not a people manager but rather a strong accounting professional who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, working alongside the existing accounting team, and executing day-to-day accounting responsibilities. This individual will partner closely with the Assistant Controller and support the accounting function through a busy year-end period. Key Responsibilities Support the accounting and financial reporting activities for a services-based business unit using Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains. Perform account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records. Conduct variance analysis and investigate significant account fluctuations. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes. Generate and analyze financial reports utilizing DataRails and other reporting tools. Support accounting activities related to construction and project-based revenue recognition, including percentage-of-completion accounting. Collaborate closely with the Assistant Controller to ensure continuity of accounting operations during the leave period. Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and operational accounting needs as they arise. Maintain compliance with company accounting policies and procedures. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience at the Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager level. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Experience performing detailed variance analysis and account review. Prior experience supporting construction, project-based, or percentage-of-completion accounting environments preferred. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) strongly preferred. Experience using DataRails or similar financial reporting and planning tools is a plus.
