SCOPE OF POSITION
The General Accountant is responsible for calculating and tracking operating costs such as labour, raw material, overhead, inventory etc.; analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods etc. to determine the effect on costs; comparing factors affecting prices and productivity; preparing ad-hoc summaries and variance reports; as well as implementing related cost accounting policies, systems and procedures.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform daily analysis of inventory transactions and produce key reporting to supervisors and management related to production, material utilization, nonconforming material and scrap. Serve as point of control for all inventory, including coordinating monthly physical inventory validations and receipt/shipment cutoff. Perform monthly inventory mass balance analysis. Review weekly transactional data to identify issues and work collaboratively with supervisors and managers to resolve them. Perform the job close procedure within the required time frame in order to ensure accurate and timely information. Monitor inventory accounts for irregularities and report low, excessive, or aged levels to the respective management. Reconcile inventory accounts and maintain accurate inventory tracking to support timely, reliable reporting. Analyze Freedom (Hood Shop Floor) and QAD to ensure both systems have complete accurate data. Maintain the General Ledger and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances. Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations. Assist with monthly and year-end financial reporting requirements. Other duties as assigned from time-to-time. Follows all SQF requirements and General Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Regular contact with team members in Engineering, Production, Marketing, Sales, Plant Controllers, and other accounting staff on matters relating to his/her responsibilities and duties. Maintain contacts with professional societies and keep current on latest best practices.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular use of computers, telephones & misc. office equipment Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently.

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred, plus 3 to 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment; or a 2-year degree or diploma and 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, cost analysis, or a related field; or 7 or more years of equivalent accounting experience. Experience working with MRP/ERP systems is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing financial analysis. Experience using QAD, shop floor systems, or other manufacturing ERP/MRP systems. Working knowledge of GAAP, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, and month-end close processes. Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS - SKILLS
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, with the ability to use Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint for communication and collaboration. Good communication skills. Detail oriented. Ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate across departments.
Pay:
$66,960.00 - $74,400.00 per year
