Senior Accountant-General Ledger and Endowments

Job Description

PositionSummary:
Reporting to the Comptroller, the Senior General Ledger/EndowmentAccountant is a professional positionresponsible for general ledgeractivities. This position will havesignificant focus on philanthropic gifts, pledges and endowmentaccounting. This role will serve as akey accounting resource and liaison to the Office of Advancement. This position is well-suited for aCPAcandidate seeking continued growth in nonprofit and higher educationaccounting. This position will require strong general ledger skillsandexperience in endowment/gift accounting.
EssentialDuties and Responsibilities:
Serves as the primarypoint of contact for Advancement staff on accounting related questions, gift structures and financial reporting and audit needs. Perform advanced accounting and analysis for gifts, pledges, endowments and identify and research underutilized funds. Work with legalto re-purpose funds where possible. Analyze donor agreements and gift documentation to determine appropriate accountingtreatment and restriction classification. Create accounts for new Endowments and monitor any modifications or amendments toexisting Endowments to ensure proper accounting treatment. Maintain and reconcile pledge receivables, including discounting,allowances and aging analysis. Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and internal controlsrelated to gift accounting. Identify process improvements and support system enhancements related to gift and Advancementfinancial data. Serves as a resource regarding unique gift vehicles including, but not limited to, charitable remainder trusts,charitable gift annuities and insurances. Assist the Accounting leadership team with the day-to-day, quarterly and fiscalyear-end operations of the Accounting Office, focusing on balance sheet support and reconciliation. Prepare journal entries,reconciliations and supporting schedules. Prepare workpapers for quarterly financial statements and assist with providingauditors with required documentation. All other related duties that maybe assigned from time to time. Maintain aprofessional appearance and demeanor at all times Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including,but not limited to; Title IX and Information Security, including FERPA and other state and federal mandates. duties, UPMIFA legislation,FASB disclosures.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA candidatepreferred. Comprehensive computer experience with advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity working with largedata sets. Three years of relevant experience in a higher education institution required.
