Overview The Town of Massena Electric Department is accepting applications for the position of Senior Fiscal Officer / Accountant. Position is an experienced level position that reports directly to the Deputy Treasurer. Initial Responsibilities/Duties Review invoices for accuracy and prepare accounts payable vouchers for processing Prepare weekly payroll and assist with required monthly/quarterly/annual report filings Assist in maintaining general ledger accounts and other financial records for department Prepare periodic fiscal and statistical records and reports Perform reconciliations including bank statements, inventory, accounts payable, and job costing May be responsible for administration, oversight, and reporting of smaller programs Support customer service in resolving issues related to billing, cash receipting and customer complaints Requirements Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Prior experience with the duties listed, as well as month end closing processes Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others A high level of confidentiality with regards to information that is processed Financial management software experience along with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Senior Fiscal Officer is a Civil Service title presently covered under the NY Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide (NY HELPS) Program. minimum qualifications for this position. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or a closely related field and 1 year of paid full-time experience in accounting or finance; Associate's degree in accounting, business administration or a closely related field and 3 years of paid full-time experience as described above; or High school equivalency diploma or possession of an Individual Education Plan diploma and 5 years of full-time paid experience in accounting or finance as described above. Massena Electric has a 26-week probationary period and a residency requirement. Under the residency requirement all employees of the Department must live within a 20-mile radius of Massena Electric's offices at 71 E. Hatfield St., Massena, NY within one year of successful completion of the 26-week probationary period.

Pay:

$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
