This position supports the financial health of the company by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and providing analytical support to management. The Senior Accountant works closely with operations, purchasing, customer service, and production teams to support the financial requirements of a manufacturing environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accounts Payable
  • Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process.
  • Review and approve vendor invoices for proper coding and authorization.
  • Ensure timely payment of suppliers and vendors.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor inquiries.
  • Monitor vendor accounts and maintain positive supplier relationships.
  • Prepare and maintain AP ageing reports. Accounts Receivable
  • Manage customer invoicing and collections activities.
  • Monitor customer payment trends and outstanding balances.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Prepare AR ageing reports and communicate collection issues to management.
  • Assist with credit reviews and customer account maintenance. General Accounting
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze variances and provide explanations to management.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Support cost accounting initiatives and inventory reconciliations.
  • Participate in year-end audit preparations and provide documentation to external auditors. Manufacturing Accounting Support
  • Assist with inventory valuation and cycle count reconciliations.
  • Support cost accounting processes related to labour, materials, and overhead.
  • Monitor manufacturing expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with production and purchasing teams to improve financial performance and inventory control. Compliance & Internal Controls
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over AP, AR, cash handling, and financial reporting.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function.
  • Assist with special projects and process improvement activities as assigned.
Education and Job Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Minimum of five- years accounting experience. Manufacturing accounting experience a plus. Experience managing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Strong understanding of AP, AR, general ledger, and financial reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with ERP systems such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent organizational and time management skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments. Working Conditions Primarily office environment. Ability to sit for extended periods at a computer.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
