Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate payroll processing and maintaining employee records. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, as well as familiarity with payroll software and human resources functions. The Payroll Assistant will work closely with the finance department to support payroll operations and contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization. Responsibilities Process payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. Maintain employee records, including personal information, tax forms, and benefits enrollment. Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions and reconcile discrepancies. Assist with benefits administration and ensure timely updates to employee benefits information. Analyze payroll data for trends and discrepancies, providing insights to management. Support corporate accounting functions by collaborating with the accounting team on financial reporting. Utilize PeopleSoft and QuickBooks for payroll processing and record management. Assist in governmental accounting compliance by preparing necessary reports and documentation. Qualifications Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly in payroll processing. Experience with journal entries and corporate accounting is preferred. Familiarity with human resources functions, including benefits administration. Proficiency in PeopleSoft and QuickBooks is a plus. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry and reporting. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual responsibilities. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Previous experience in a payroll or accounting role is advantageous but not required.
