GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position has oversight responsibility of the computerized accounting system; performs general accounting procedures; serves as financial monitor for subcontractors. An Accountant is crossed trained to handle the procurement process, payroll processes, inventory control, financial reporting and purchase order processes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records to prepare financial statements, give advice, or audit and evaluate statements prepared by others. Install or advise on systems of recording costs or other financial and budgetary data. Post transactions to accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger; review invoices for contract payments; code invoices to proper expense accounts; prepare accounts payable checks; prepare journal vouchers; maintain contract files; maintain purchase order and inventory files; process payroll for staff and participants; maintain payroll files; submit all payroll reporting requirements; create worksheets; request advances/reimbursements from grantor agencies; prepare financial reports in-house and grantor agencies; may maintain petty cash; monitor subcontractors; perform related work as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
B.B.A. in Accounting or related field plus two (2) years experience. Four (4) years experience with emphasis on federal/state grant accounting may be substituted for education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of computers and grant accounting procedures; proficient in working with Microsoft Excel and Word; limited typing skills required; ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines; good communication skills in dealing with the public and co-workers in a pleasant and professional manner.
SPECIAL REOUIREMENTS
