Staff Accountant - Dedicated Client Account Position Profile We are seeking an accounting/bookkeeping professional to serve as the primary dedicated accounting resource for one of our firm's key client accounts, with additional support for a small number of lower-volume clients. This role currently focuses primarily (approximately 95%) on one key client, with the remaining time supporting other clients. Based on performance and interest, there may be opportunity over time to take on a broader client portfolio, so this role can serve as an entry point from 15-20 hours per week into a full-time staff accountant career path at our firm. Utilizing QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online, responsibilities include managing all aspects of the general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, as well as handling payroll information, sales tax reporting, credit card statements, and cash flow. The role may also involve various other miscellaneous duties as needed. Must be located in the greater-Austin area; remote work is available. The job is extremely hands-on and detail-oriented, bearing much responsibility, so the accountant must be responsible and self-reliant. The ability to present information to owners and coworkers is critical; in those presentations, they must be able to define problems distinctly, collect data accurately, establish reliable facts, and draw valid conclusions. Primary Client Account You will be working/interacting weekly with their COO, but minimally with the owner and staff. There are multiple related entities serving the tennis community, offering private tennis lessons, selling merchandise, and providing academic courses for profit and non-profit entities. You will be responsible for preparing monthly invoices for approximately 250 of their customers on a fixed schedule and processing payroll monthly for about 30-40 employees. Accounting/Bookkeeping Responsibilities
Perform and review bank and credit card reconciliations.
Prepare and review financial statements.
Produce sales tax reporting.
Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax reporting for federal and state.
Manage 1099 reporting.
Develop payroll Excel spreadsheets and journal entries to QuickBooks. Skills
Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, necessary for dealing directly with a client's owners and staff on an ongoing basis.
Well-organized with high attention to detail and accuracy, flexible, and a creative problem solver.
Excellent phone skills and customer service, handling all client requests.
Able to multitask and prioritize duties and projects to meet deadlines, and to work as an integral member of the firm's team.
Trustworthy, with an outstanding reputation for integrity and confidentiality. Given the depth of access to the primary client's full financials, strict adherence to client confidentiality and any applicable NDA terms are required. Requirements/Qualifications
Proficient with QuickBooks Desktop with Payroll and QuickBooks Online; MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); and Acrobat. Education
High school diploma required.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Reporting & Structure
Day-to-day guidance/oversight from Accounting partner on all accounting/bookkeeping processes.
Participation in weekly Monday office meeting.
